Most apps are built around transactions. You need something, the app delivers it, the cycle repeats.
Pawgloo was built around something different: a belief that pets deserve a community, not just a marketplace.
That distinction matters more than it might sound at first. It shapes who we accept on the platform, how we build our features, what we encourage and what we do not, and what kind of experience we're trying to create for pets and the people who love them across India.
This is the story and the mission behind Pawgloo. And it's an invitation.
Why We Built This
The Indian pet landscape is at an inflection point.
The number of pet-owning households has been growing by double digits annually. Urban millennials and Gen Z are adopting dogs and cats in record numbers. India's pet industry crossed ₹20,000 crore in 2024.
And yet: most pet parents are navigating this alone.
They're Googling symptoms at midnight and trusting random forum answers over qualified vets. They're leaving their dogs with walkers they found through a reference of a reference. They're boarding their cats with hosts who have no reviews, no accountability, and no community around them. They're bringing their dogs to dog parks and hoping for the best.
The experience is fragmented, stressful, and often unsafe-not because Indian pet parents don't care, but because the infrastructure for better care simply hasn't existed.
Pawgloo was built to create that infrastructure. And more than that-to build the community values that make it trustworthy.
What We Believe In
🤝 Mutual Respect: Pets, Parents, and Providers
Pawgloo is a two-sided community. Pet parents and service providers are both stakeholders, and the quality of the community depends on both sides showing up with integrity.
For pet parents, we ask:
- Be transparent on your pet's profile-about temperament, challenges, and needs
- Cancel bookings with adequate notice and communicate changes promptly
- Leave honest, useful reviews after every service
- Represent your pet's behavior accurately on playdates
For service providers, we ask:
- List only the services you can reliably deliver
- Communicate proactively-especially during pet stays and walks
- Operate from a pet-first mindset, not a revenue-first one
- Maintain your own pets' vaccinations and health if you host others
This is not a long rulebook. It's a shared ethic.
The India-Specific Context
Pet parenting in India carries some unique challenges that Pawgloo takes seriously:
Indie dogs and diverse breeds: India has a massive population of Indie (Indian Pariah Dog) pet parents who often feel underserved by platforms designed around pedigree culture. Pawgloo explicitly includes Indies, mixed breeds, and regional breeds as equal citizens of the platform-in matchmaking, in listings, in community.
First-generation pet parents: A significant proportion of Indian pet adopters are the first in their family to own a pet. The learning curve is steep. Tele-vet access, content education, and community support aren't luxuries for this group-they're essential infrastructure.
Gender and safety for service providers: Many dog walkers, Petbnb hosts, and stylists are women operating independent micro-businesses. Pawgloo's identity verification and in-app communication system is partly designed to ensure their safety as providers, not just that of the pets.
An Invitation to Shape This Community
Pawgloo is early. The app is live. The features are working. The community is forming.
And at this stage, the early members of any community have disproportionate influence on what it becomes. The norms you establish-the kind of reviews you leave, the transparency you bring to your pet profiles, the way you treat your walkers and hosts-become the culture.
We want Pawgloo to be a community that makes India better for pets. Not just more convenient for pet parents (though yes, that too), but genuinely better for the animals at the center of it all.
If that vision resonates with you-as a pet parent, as a provider, or as someone who simply believes animals deserve better-we'd love to have you.
